QUESTION: Does the step come off or fold up when not in use.
To you have install and uninstall it each time you use it? by None N 11/10/2011
ANSWER: To use the receiver hitch step, you just insert it in to the hitch receiver on your vehicle. No pins, no bolts or anything. After your dog uses it, you can just place it in your vehicle for the next time that you need it. The hitch step just slides in an out. It does not remain attached to your vehicle and can not be used when the vehicle is in motion. by Shannon P 11/11/2011
STAFF ANSWER: Most owners of the step store it inside the vehicle after each use. Chuck B. Staff by Chuck B 11/10/2011
QUESTION: I would like to know if the step slides back under the suv when not in use
Thanks

ANSWER: Nope, the step slides into a receiver hitch, so your car MUST have a 2" receiver hitch installed to use this item. If you do have a hitch the kind with a square empty hole that allows you to slide hitch accessories into, then this item will work, however, it does not slide back into anything. You can remove it buy sliding it out of the hole, whch takes about 2 seconds, but then you need to store it inside your vehicle when not in use. I don't use mine for a dog, but insted to sit on when I am putting my ski boots on at the ski hil.
