    ANSWER: Depends on where on the tag you're talking about: the top line could fit 14, 2nd line 14, 3 and 4 would be about 12 characters each.

    I really like the tag. The engraving is color-filled so it really pops. By engraving both sides we were able to add 2 additional phone numbers for our vet and MEDS NEEDED, which is very important for this particular dog.

    We purchased the brass star for our other dog because he didn't require as much info. Both tags look very classy and sturdy.

    If you check with the tag info, I believe they tell you how many characters per line. If not, Dogs ID is great about calling you with questions or suggestions. Trust them to do their best for you; I did and I'm a happy person:- by M C 11/24/2011
