Keith F: Good product. This is my second. Fits well, lays flat, and looks good. Honest price for the product. This is the third product I've purchased from this company and happy with all of them.Apr 2, 2013
Susan L: Because my dog has extra toes that can get hung up in a collar with rings. I'm hoping this will fit his ring-less collar snug enough so that his toes can't get caught in it when he scratches his neck.Feb 18, 2013
Carol K: Hope for it to stay secure on my dog's collar and not fall off.Feb 13, 2013
debra h: wanted id that was not a hanging tag, so it wouldn't come off in the woods and brush where we live.Aug 20, 2012
Barbara P: Because it was brass and it slides on the collar rather than hanging down and rattling.Aug 4, 2012

JOVETTA K: I have had problems with two hanging tags rubbing together and wearing the markings off so you can't read it. They also jingle and make noise.Jul 12, 2012

Hannah J: lots of room to put info on. should look good with mendota collar I also bought.... I think this is the 5th tag I've bought from this site, not because i have needed to replace them but because I have bought a few for my own dog just for variety and a couple for friends.Jul 8, 2012
Cindy P: I don't like the jinggle sound of the ID's that hang off the collarJul 7, 2012
Justin B: Can't lose it, think it'll look great on his brown leather collar.Jun 24, 2012
Stacy H: Looks Great, Highest Quality, My second order of this item. Looks awesome on Mendota collarsJun 4, 2012
Dorothy D: I have a small dog and he is afraid of the tag that hangs down I have one that I tried and he will not even eat or anything, so this was my choice since I must have a tag,Apr 27, 2012
EILEEN P: I'm frustrated with other more traditional dog ID tags. My dog has lost two of them that were attached with rings to his collar. I'm hoping this slide-on one won't come off.Apr 25, 2012
Mary W: We like this type of tag as it doesn't come off or chewed! Plus we like his tags engraved with his name and contact.Apr 21, 2012
S Q: I make my own collars. These are the best plates to use. No rivits, no rattlApr 18, 2012

other tags get torn off but I have found that these will never come off. I hunt and train alot and some other tags I've had came off but this type of tag never comes off.
I will never use any other tag except this one for the above reasons

T H:These tags are extremely durable. I've been using these tags for 4 years and have not had any issues with them. I switched to these tags because my dog would chew on the tags that dangled from her collar previously.
Once you slide them onto the collar, they pretty much stay in place unless you move them. I have to take the collar off to move them into different positions on the collar. I believe the key is matching the width of the collar with the size of the tag.Aug 13, 2012
Laura P:I have both the slide-on name tags and the collars with them already attached. Both have held up very well. My dogs are very rough and outdoors in the fields and woods and the writing is totally legible and not worn off at all after a year. I use the slide on tags for our electric fence collars.Aug 13, 2012
Heather S:Still helping keep track of our dog 1 and a half years after purchase
The electric fence broke, and our neighbors called the number on the tag to tell us our dog was at their houseAug 13, 2012
Joyce D:didn't use it for long - it didn't really fit the collar that I had bought. I still have it and if it fits his new collar I will use it.Aug 14, 2012
Heather S:Just helped our neighbors call to let us know our dog was on their porch! The electric fence had gone down! I recommend the tag! Aug 13, 2012
dsquared71 asked:Is the name plate engraved (as in etched into the surface) or is it laser engraved? Also is the brass solid brass or brass coated?Mar 3, 2013
I'm not sure what the difference is between etched or laser, but I believe the engraving is down into the metal with black "painted" (?) into it. I've had 4 of these tags for over a year and a half of constant wear and they still look good. Pretty sure they're solid brass because I have not noticed any discoloration of the tags. I've been really happy with them and like the way they look on the collars. I also ordered a couple of the leather collars with "studs" on them for our larger dogs and they also still look great after a year and a half of ranch wear!
Chuck BStaff:The tags are solid brass. We at dogIDs use a high power fiber laser to engrave our tags which actually vaporizes and removes the metal so it is actually engraving instead of marking or laser bonding. This allows us to engrave deeply into the metal with pristine detail and a nice contrasting engrave color...Excellent looks with a true engrave that will NEVER wear off of your dog's tag. Engraving guaranteed for life of your pet...PERIOD! Chuck B. StaffMar 4, 2013
Phillip L:Not sure how the engraving is done but it is deep, not just scratched on. It seems to be solid brass. I have had them on my labs for about a year. Both dogs are hunters - both upland birds and waterfowl. So far their tags show no sign of ear or fading. These are best ID tags I have ever owed in 30 years of having hunting dogs!Mar 4, 2013
Cynthia M:The name plate is sold brass and it appears it is laser engraved. I think it is the best id tag I have ever purchased. Totally durable, has not worn down at all. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!Mar 4, 2013
KAREN B:you would have to ask the man who makes them his process but i believe they are all brass and i was very happy with them. i would recommend without hesitation....Mar 4, 2013
Christine T:These work great for hunting dogs and active outdoor dogs. They have not slid off nor wore the name or information off. My dogs have 16 acres of woods and swamp to run through and a creek. I hose the dogs off and they are still as good as new, not so much for the dogs, they are tired and lie down for a long nap. LOL Great item. Thanks for having it available. PS- I have had the dangling kind before and as active as my labs are, they eventually get lost, that is why I wanted to try this type and so far they are far better for two very active dogs!Apr 20, 2011
Jennifer V:We have had one for years for our large dog that fits around her collar instead of sliding on (there are slits in the metal to put it on the collar). She is a trail runner and water dog - it's held up perfectly. That's why we bought a couple for our friends who have 2 small dogs. However, they cannot find a collar that the tags can slide onto. there are buckles on both ends of most collars - so it won't fit over the buckles. We gave them for Christmas and they still haven't used them. Any advice for some collars?Apr 20, 2011
C A:These hold up very well in water and woods. Our two brittany spaniels are outside dogs and we have a pool. I love the way they don't jingle like the old fashion kind. We will always buy these and I always recommend them with the plastic collar too - that never smells!Apr 19, 2011
jill P:my kids don't wear them very often so I can't answer. It appeared one had discoloring but when I inspected for you couldn't see it. One thing I found out is....collar size needs to be very close or else they flip sideways to push into neck. jillApr 20, 2011
Patsy S:I have had this tag for several months on my 2 corgis. One of them swims in the pond almost daily (the other doesn't go near the water), and this name plate still looks like new.Apr 20, 2011
A shopper asked:My dog's collar is 2 layers of webbed material thick (about 3/16ths of an inch thick). Will it fit through the holes in the tag?Apr 5, 2012
Chuck BStaff:Yes, the slot in that tag is 5/8 inch for the large side slider tag and 1/4 inch slot on the small tag. Note: you will need an open end on the collar to make this tag work. It will not work with snap buckle collars. Chuck B. StaffApr 9, 2012
Cynthia M:Hi, my dog's collar is a webbed material, too, and almost 3/16" thick...kinda worn :) I definitely believe the brass slide-on name plate will work! So far, I love Dog ID's!Apr 9, 2012
Clint HStaff:Yes, just last month we began contouring/bending all name plates before shipping out. This includes name plates installed on collars as well as our ScruffTag Collars.Jan 9, 2012
Chuck BStaff:These dog tags slide onto your dog collar without any additional hardware or tools needed to install or remove. The collar must have one strap available without a buckle or hardware that will interfere with the tag sliding on. Leather, braided, and poly coated nylon webbing work well with these slide-on tags. The collars to avoid are collars with snap buckles. Chuck B- StaffApr 27, 2011
