A shopper asked: How does the engraving on these tags hold up to everyday wear and tear? Jun 6, 2011

Carmen C: We bought our one-year lab/weim mix this tag 6 months ago to replace her old one (that we had gotten from one of those etching machines in a pet store) because it was so pitted and scratched it was unreadable. Her new tag doesn't show any wear yet. She is extremely tough on her tags - she is a very energetic dog - so I am guessing they should stand up to anything. She has gone swimming when were at our lake cabin a few times this year, and the tag doesn't show any sign of rust or corrosion (if that's a concern for you). Jun 9, 2011

Jaime P: I bought two on September 2010. One of them is on my dog all the time (I've got one for spare) and to this date -June 2011, it is still good. Not only that, I had another dog who went to heaven in 2009 and she wore the same type of tag for the last 6 years of her life and the engraving held on quite well. I can still feel and read that old tag. Stainless steel tags are very good, much better than brass. Jun 9, 2011

Andrea P: I can't recall how long ago I bought the stainless ID tags for my 2 dogs (6 months, maybe?) but they look as good today as they did when I received them. The engraving is still crisp and clear. My dogs are the rough and tumble type and dig holes and tunnels in the yard so the tags take a beating. I'm very pleased with the way they've held up. Roger M: The engraving holds up pretty well and I have big dogs. I'm about to order 2 more due to loss. The stainless steel rubs off a little bit on white fur so I'm going to order brass. Jun 9, 2011

C H: They're great. I've had them on my dogs for about two years now...worn daily. And there's no wear on the engraving...I definitely recommend them... Jun 10, 2011

Jon N asked: Is this tag laser etched or engraved? May 9, 2011
Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
Chuck BStaff: We at dogIDs use a high power fiber laser to engrave our tags which actually vaporizes and removes the metal so it is actually engraving instead of marking or laser bonding. This allows us to engrave deeply into the metal with pristine detail and a nice contrasting engrave color...Excellent looks with a true engrave that will NEVER wear off of your dog's tag. Engraving guaranteed for life...PERIOD!
