All of our collars, unless otherwise noted on the collar's page, are measured to the center hole for a TRUE neck size. Simply measure your dog’s neck at the base for the proper collar size. There should always be enough room to slip one finger between your pet’s neck and the collar, so do this as you determine your dog’s neck size. The measurement of your dog’s neck is the size of the collar it needs.
You don't buy pants for yourself that are a certain measurement and add or subtract several inches to get your true pants measurement, right? Why should you do that for your dog? We like to keep it simple and logical here at Dog IDs, Measure your dog's neck and order that size collar. That's the way it should be!
Simply measure your dog’s neck at the base for the proper collar size. There should always be enough room between the pet’s neck and the collar to slip one finger between them comfortably.
Here are a few different methods for measuring your dog's neck:
Method 1) Measure your dog's neck with a sewing tape while keeping two fingers between his skin and the tape.
Method 2) Wrap a string around your dogs neck with two fingers between his skin and the string. Mark the string and then measure the length of it.
Method 3) Remove your dog's current collar and stretch it out flat. Then measure from the center of the buckle to the current sizing hole being used.

You won't find anything like this at Petco or Petsmart. I paid as much $ for different collars at he retail pet chain and they weren't near the quality. This collar will never wear out and the leather is a high quality leather that will get better with age.
My Dogs neck measured between 15 and 16" so there isn't as much left at the end to tuck under the brass holder as I would have liked.
