All of our collars, unless otherwise noted on the collar's page, are measured to the center hole for a TRUE neck size. Simply measure your dog’s neck at the base for the proper collar size. There should always be enough room to slip one finger between your pet’s neck and the collar, so do this as you determine your dog’s neck size. The measurement of your dog’s neck is the size of the collar it needs.
You don't buy pants for yourself that are a certain measurement and add or subtract several inches to get your true pants measurement, right? Why should you do that for your dog? We like to keep it simple and logical here at Dog IDs, Measure your dog's neck and order that size collar. That's the way it should be!
Simply measure your dog’s neck at the base for the proper collar size. There should always be enough room between the pet’s neck and the collar to slip one finger between them comfortably.
Method 1) Measure your dog's neck with a sewing tape while keeping two fingers between his skin and the tape.
Method 2) Wrap a string around your dogs neck with two fingers between his skin and the string. Mark the string and then measure the length of it.
Method 3) Remove your dog's current collar and stretch it out flat. Then measure from the center of the buckle to the current sizing hole being used.Learn more about measuring methods.

Suited for All Situations
Your dog can wear our Mendota Rolled Leather Training Collar for work or for play! As a slip collar, it tightens when your dog pulls and loosens when he or she responds to your correction, making it the perfect training collar. This leather training collar can also be used as a standard rolled collar with a floating ring for lead attachment. Talk about form and function!
Function with Elegance
Unlike most other leather collars you'll find, the rolled leather design of this one helps prevent matting and tangles on the fur around your dog's neck. Seams are resin sealed and stitched with nylon thread for high durability, meaning it is excellent for both training and most other situations your dog will ever find himself in. Even better, the chestnut brown leather pairs beautifully with the collar's solid brass accents. And if you want to personalize this collar, use dogIDs Hang Tags only, as nameplates will not fit on our rolled leather collars.
