My two dogs also like to play in the sprinkler, so the waterproof material will help keep the color from staining their white undercoat. I also like the belting type of color better than buckle because they can't break out of them so easily when roughing around with each other. Feb 19, 2013

Rebecca J: Reflective. Waterproof. Odorproof. Made in USA! Short dog whose tags dangle/clank her dishes. She deserves better! I've purchased name tags from here before. The quality was excellent! It goes without saying that that is no longer the norm. Jun 26, 2012
Bradley F: Needed a positive ID for my 120 lb dog. Looked good and met my requirements. Jun 24, 2012
Nancy H: I like that it's order and water proof, plus reflective so we can better see our very black dog at night! karen t: Exactly the everyday collar that I wanted for my new German Shorthair Pointer pup. A little more than I was looking to spend but it appears this product was thought through and the materials should last for quite some time. I especially like the "scruff" location for the engraved tag. I know if I found a dog I would be hesitant to reach for a dangling tag in front of it's mouth. With this tag you can visually obtain info without toucing the dog. Jan 20, 2012

Margaret P: My boyfriend always takes our dog, Dooley, to the farm/hunting. Every time she goes with him the i.d. charm on her coller looks as if it gets snagged on things, the metal ring that attaches the charm is always bent out of shape. I like the face that the i.d. is fastened to the coller and lays flat. I also like that the coller is water proof and has the reflective strip. Miguel C asked: How to determine the size easily?
What is best to put on the plaque?
I was told the dog's name is not a good idea!

K R: I can't really give you a good answer to determine the size easily, but we took our dogs old collar and measured it. We have a med-large size dog (70lbs) and we bought the size 18. I kinda wish I would have ordered a size bigger.

We were also told the dog's name was a bad idea so we put our last name on the color (ex. The Smiths) with our phone numbers and address. We have 4 lines on the tag and it still has plenty of room and the words aren't to small.

The collar is pretty sturdy too. When we have our dog chained up outside he tends to pull on the chain quite a bit and puts a lot of stress on the collar so we were kind of worried it might not hold up, but we have not had a problem with that at all and don't plan to either.

Debra C: WE ALWAYS INCLUDE THE PETS NAME!
If there license & vaccination tags come off the collar a vet can use pets name and owners in search of records.
We had to search x4 days to retrieve a bird dog last fall,
Her name and ours was a vital part of her return,
Also I have began putting my cell # on the collar, as I have learned often you are away from your home phone if there is a problem.
Hope this helps you decide which is the best decision for you AND YOUR BELOVED PET

Todd O: I personally feel that putting your dogs name on the collar makes someone think this dog has an identity with another owner. If the collar give off the impression that the dog is property I feel someone might be more inclined to not return him. I believe in most people doing the right thing and I believe that if my dog was found it will be the micro chip that gets him back from a thief not the collar.

Good luck and the collar are great

Jeffrey P: I measured my dogs neck and since they use the center hole fo
the collar size-and it adjusts two inches smaller or larger-find your dogs neck size and order a collar that puts his size closest to the middle. I did not put my dogs name on collar-I put home phone, cell phone and the word
"Reward!" hoping that would motivate someone to find me.

Anca P: I put on my plaques their name and 3 phone numbers. I wasn't aware that putting the dog's name is not a good idea, I wonder why.
I measured their existing collars and then used the guidelines on this website to choose the size. The collars have about 4 holes so they are adjustable, just make sure you don't order it too small or large.

Chuck BStaff: Here are a few different methods for measuring your dog's neck:
Measure your dog's neck with a sewing tape while keeping two fingers between his skin and the tape.
OR...
Wrap a string around your dogs neck with two fingers between his skin and the string. Mark the string and then measure the length of it.
OR...
Remove your dog's current collar and stretch it out flat. Then measure from the center of the buckle to the current sizing hole being used. Chuck B. Staff

Leslie R: Its a really nice collar, waterproof and reflective. I have a 100 pound male labrador with a neck measurement of 24, and ordered the orange 1 inch x 24 length. The collar ended up measuring 26 inches. So follow the sizing chart on the website. Sep 29, 2011

Clint HStaff: Since all dogs have different body shapes, I recommend measuring your dog's neck for the best fit. However, if you can't measure the dog's neck for some reason, I would guess that a 75 pound lab will take an 18" collar. Sep 29, 2011

Robert P: I do not know exactly what the collar is made of but it looks to be made of nylon covered in thick poly coating with sturdy rivets and name plate. I have an extremely active adult male golden retriever who has worn his collar for several months now and the collar isn't showing any signs of wear. The collar holds up to daily swims in the creek, it cleans up nicely and doesn't retain odor of any kind. The name plate isn't scratched or dulled, the lettering is still just as visible today as the day I received it and the reflective strip isn't showing any signs of wear. You will have to ask the company if they guarantee the name plate, but I can tell you that Jack and his buddies play rough and bite each other in the neck and shoulder area and his name plate (and the rest of the collar) has held up wonderfully to the large teeth of a german shepard, a mastif mix and a lab. Also if your address or phone number changes, you can send the collar back to the company and they will replace the name plate for you and if I remember correctly it only costs $5.00. I was a bit skeptical about spending $30 for a dog collar but I assure you it is well worth the money!!! I hope my response to your question is helpful Jul 28, 2011

Paulette S: The material is like a hard plastic yet very comfortable for my dog - I love it - the collar is easy to keep clean and does not hold an odor. the color has kept and i like that it is bright orange. Our dog is outside and inside, but outside quite a bit and this collar allows others to see him. We own and operate a resort on the lake so it is important for others to see him. We wrote on his tag - Please do not feed me - and it has not worn off and very easy to read - also says his name our phone number, etc. Love this color - very happy with it. Looks as though they have new colors. Jul 28, 2011

Kari W: I bought 3 of these for our dogs and LOVE them! The mateial is a plastic coated webbing with a great reflextive stripe. They don't stink, which is hug for us as our dogs are in the ocean etc.
I am not sure about the engraving, but I would have only put our family name and info , not the dog name,as I am sure the collar will outlast them! And I would have ordered 2 inches larger as well

Bryan P: Seems to be bright vinyl over a hard material. The reflective strip seems to be standard reflective tape on vinyl. Shows up well and is strong as my dog goes into heavy brush and the reflective material is intact, without scratches. I think now they are offering more than the orange color and the laser tag wears well. I do not know about what guarantees they offer but I do know my dog's collar wears well through water, heavy brush and lots of mud. Laser tag cleans up and looks new. Hope this helps you in making the right decision for you and your dog. Jul 28, 2011

Lucy R: The collar is made of a strong, flexible plastic material. It was a tiny bit stiff at first to me but my dog never had a problem. The tag on the collar is still in great shape after a few months, I've had pet store purchased tags that wore out very quickly. As for the color, you would have to check the website. Orange was the only choice when I purchased this collar, and I like it because its easy to see and reflective for dark. Jul 28, 2011

Lana P: I have had this collar since April. I love it. Having said that, the reflective will scruff if scratched with something sharp. I do think it is a good buy. The orange color has stayed bright so far. Love the engraved plate. I placed clear tape over the engraving to keep from scratching. The reflective stripe is great at night, really does it's job. William B: Not sure i understand the question. I brought an 18 inch orange collar, which i like very much, but it's an easy 2 inches too large. It still "works" but next time i will round the measurement down versus up. Sep 20, 2011

Chuck BStaff: We punch 5 holes in the collar strap. A size 14 would be 14 inches to the 3rd hole in the strap. The holes are 1 inch apart so a size 14 would go to size 12 on the first hole, and up to a 16 inch neck on the last hole. Please refer to the help section for installation and sizing instructions to measure the dogs neck for a proper fit. Chuck B. Staff Sep 21, 2011

Clint HStaff: We use a true measurement system so a 14" collar is actually 14" when using the center adjustment hole. There are 5 adjustment holes so a 14" collar will adjust up to a 16" neck or down to a 12" neck. Sep 20, 2011

Laila K: How about the reflective strip how soon before that wears off. May 4, 2011
Robert P: The reflective strip appears to be thick and sturdy. My golder retriever also "rough houses" with 3 other large dogs every day and there aren't any scratches at all on the reflective strip (we have had it for about a month). We live in a very wooded area with a large deer population and I was worried about a hunter mistaking my pet for a deer so I wanted a collar that was bright enough to make him stand out from the local wildlife. The orange is very visible and the reflective strip shines bright even with a small flash light from a good distance. My husband thought I was crazy for spending so much money on a dog collar but after examining it in person, he agrees that it is well made and well worth the money to help keep our beloved Jack safe. I would recommend this collar to anyone!! May 6, 2011

Michael m: The plastic is pretty sturdy, but I haven't tested it for what you're planning to do. As you can see in the picture, It's built with rivets. So that should be an indication. It's a good, sturdy, quality collar. Nov 26, 2012

Kari W: I have 2 black labs (both around 70 pounds) I got them 20 inch collars, but in hindsight, I would have added another inch for a bit more bite (tongue) at the end of the collar. I LOVE the collars! dont get wet and smelly and super high viz! I would have just put our last name on the collar instead of the dogs name, as I think the collars will outlive the dogs (unfortunately). I will get these collars again!! Jul 7, 2011

Dustin H: I'd suggest a 18" collar for all of your dogs. I know pitbulls have a thick muscular neck and I personally have 90lb Boxer and a 90lb Retriever and they both are wearing 18" collars and they're wearing them at the 19" and 20" hole. I sent this out to some of our loyal customer for some other size comparisons, but without knowing your dogs neck size it's pretty hard to know what will work for you exactly. I think you'd be happy with the 18" though. Thanks - Staff Jul 7, 2011
