I have bought several id's for my lab puppy --he's VERY active and inevitably the tag comes off and is lost. I'm looking for something that can withstand his acitivty level and if it gets snagged/won't let go......sure could use your thoughts!! thanks...Piper Poteat

We don't leave collars or tags on our dogs when they are playing in the yard. They take the collars off each other. They are big (Standard Poodle and German Shepherd Dog), young (2 yrs) and very active. What is most helpful about this tag holder is the ability to take it off when tags are in the way or possibly a hazard. The poodle does agility and the GSD and poodle both do competition obedience. In training tags are a hazard for agility and they definitely can't be on a collar for any dog during obedience matches and trials.

I bought this clip last month and haven't had any issue with it. Thus far it secures nicely without getting caught on anything and doesn't come off when outdoors running around. Another idea for an active dog who consistently looses his/her tags is a name plate collar.

I don't know how good it is in action. It was a gift for my granddog. I certainly would put an additional tag on your pup's collar with rivets so if the tags come off again he will still have ID. And don't forget to micro-chip and keep his registration up to date.

I love it I bought one for my ACD and liked it a lot so I got another one for my Lab/Pit mix both active and both and problems with keeping on their tags. It also helps if you want to take it of and put it on a new collar or switch it to a harness.

Don't think you will have any problem. My dog loves to get into shrubs and scratch his head and his back. It has never come off. I love ours and it is very sturdy. Think you will too if you choose to purchase this product. I have no regrets.

THese clips are tough!! I have 2 very active dogs and wanted to switch tags from collar to collar - this was the ticket! The spring on it is very tight and there's no way the tags could come off. Great product!

Piper,
We have 4 Gordon Setters that LOVE to run and play. They get into almost everything. The Rubit Clip-On Dog Tag holders are holding up very well to this kind of activity. We have had no issues.

I do recommend the Rubit Clip-On Dog Tag Holder. We love switching collars for our lab and she goes in the water a lot, so we take it off at times. This clip was super convenient and very durable, just an FYI!

I too have a Lab puppy and the Rubit -Clip on is doing a wonderful job! Very secure and tags were easy to get on. Definitely worth trying. I bought one for my friend and she loves hers as well!

THERE IS I RING THAT SECURES TO THE COLLAR AND THE OTHER END HAS A RING THAT SECURES THE TAG(S) WHICH YOU JUST HOOK THE TAG(S)ON AND THE HOOK CLOSES BY IT SELF.
I HAVE BOUGHT SEVERAL OF THESE BECAUSE I LIKE TO CHANGE COLLARS/LEASHES WITH THE HOLIDAYS OR SEASONS,AND THAT ARE VERY SECURE,THE TAG DROPS JUST ENOUGH SO THEY ARE EASILY SEEN,BUT DOES BOTHER THE DOG.
I HOPE THIS HAS HELPED,I HOPE YOU TRY ONE------THEY ARE TERRIFIC,AND MOST OF ALL VERY SECURE

We bought this four months ago and it is excellent. We have five tags on it with room for more. We change collars several times a year due to everything from hunting seasons to summer river and ocean swimming. Changing the tags has gone from a miserable chore to less than a minute.

I personally have 2 tags (an id tag and the rabies tag) at the moment and there's room to hold more. If you stack them on the ring (think of it like a key ring that you can add a bunch of keys to) you can fit a bunch. Hope that helps

I have rabies tag, name tag on my lab's large Rubit Clip on Tag Holder. You could fit more on easily. There's plenty of room. I love this tag holder.

I'm not sure of your question, if you meant how many tags on a clip I have 3 tags on the clip and it will hold several more.

I've tried a similar product from the hardware store,,,CAME OFF EASILY in the yard. does this really hold??????? love changing collars (like I do purses) and there HAS to be an easy way. Honestly, do they hold??

Lisa R:
They hold! I have used them on five large breed active dogs from puppy to seniors and never had a problem. I love this product.

Yes, I have three very active dogs we go hiking for miles and they play tug with each other and often grab collars, they do agility where I am taking the tags of an on daily. Also I hang the Quiet Spot bag (holds several tags and a potty bag) from the Ribit, nice little purse as well as a silencer, it is a bundle. My clips have lasted for years. I have only broke one and that's because I twisted it. I think my oldest is about 3 years old. Yes they do break but I would suggest buying the bigger clip vs a smaller, that is how I twisted the one that broke. The bigger clip clips on and off on the collar ring easier. The actual aluminum clip has never broke just the wire spring. One came off and I just put it back on and kept on going.

The Rubit is great and really works. I have 3 dogs and have never had one break. They really hold up even when the dogs play rough. Plus, a great advantage is that they are very easy to remove. I change doggie collars for every holiday and of course my dogs always have their name tag on. Rubit is great!

We have 2 very active labs that can run on our 10 acres. One of the Rubit clip on lasted about 6 months. I figured he some how got it unclipped in some heavy weeds/brush and it came off of his collar. We still have the other one and it is still working.

These are the only tag holders I have purchased that really work. I too have purchased them elsewhere and they always broke. One of my dogs, due to a medical condition, has four tags on her Rubit with no problem.

This is a great product. My dogs have been wearing them for two years and they have never come off no matter how many times I change collars.

Absolutely! Been using them on the dog and other stuff (to put my office key on/off my keychain) for 2 years. Still love them!

how many tags on a clip
Feb 16, 2011
JoAnne K:
Well worth the investment. You could hold several Tags on one clip - I love it - it is very sturdy and easily can be removed to put on different collars. I purchaed them for my Goldens with the ID Tag (which is very sturdy and durable) and was able to put their names, phone and Rabies Tag # on them - I have it on the Rubit Clip with their AKC Microchip info.

Linda H:
I have one for each of my two dogs, one only has his municipal dog tag on the clip, the other has that tag plus his microchip tag. There would be room for additional tags if I wanted to put more on. the ring for the tags is not all that large but since the tags are not very thick I would think they would hold quite a few tags at one time.

Candice P:
Each of my dogs has 4 tags on a clip: ID, rabies, dog license and microchip.
The only issue I have is that since all of the tags are on one ring they rub together and can wear down if the engraving is not etched deeply into the metal. That issue is not caused by the clip. It's caused by having so many tags on one ring.
Feb 16, 2011
Jennifer B:
I've got 2 on it, but you could put more than 4 probably, especially if each is on it's own split-ring. I just have each tag on the supplied split ring. You could use the provided split ring to be the "base" and put more on that are on their own split rings. Hope that makes sense!

Jackie M:
The tags attach by the traditional round spring tag holders, so I have a rabies tag, ID tag, and a magnet for their door on it and it works great. I just hook the clip onto their collar and it is easy to change when they get a bath.

Elizabeth K:
I have 3 tags on the clip. (name, rabies and city license). More will fit.

Nichole P:
I have two on each one, however, there is room for more than that.

A shopper asked:
Does it cause white dogs fur to become gray from rubbing?
Mar 4, 2012
C C:
I don't think so.
In our case the legally required tags cause the graying of the fur,
as far as I can tell.
We are very happy with the Rubit Clip, we ordered it in the red.
Mar 20, 2012
T J:
No, it does not. I have 2 white dogs (55lb. VERY active dogs) and the Rubit Clip does not cause that disgusting silver smudging all over their chests like their cheap metal rabies tags do! I wish they made the rabies tags out of better quality metal, like the Rubit Clip is made of!

Thanks to all of you who responded to my question about the Rubit Clip-On dog tag holder......:) I did purchase it, and am thrilled. I DO also have Baci (my chocolate lab pup) microchipped as he's already such an important member of our home, but was afraid that if he got away somehow whoever found him might not know to take him to a vet/have him checked for microchipping, etc....so I definitely wanted a back up plan. At any rate, I DO love the tag holder ---it's great!!!
