The two layers of leather both have the finished side of the leather facing out...Smooth finished surface on the outside and inside for comfort and extra resistance to the elements. Chuck BStaff: This is a double ply collar which isDouble layered leather is more resistant to the elements than single ply collars. The nickel plated solid brass hardware is corrosion proof. If you want a maintenance free , water and odor proof collar, I would suggest looking at our Soft Grip collars, Item # ID302-394.
