Our sizing is based on the actual neck size. So I would suggest measuring your dog's neck with a sewing tape or string, with 2 fingers underneath for comfort. The result will be the dog's neck size and then you would order a corresponding collar, such as size 20, 22, 24 etc. If the measurement is an odd number size, we recommend going to the smaller size. We use a true measurement fitting system with our collars. This means that you measure around your dog's neck where you want the collar to sit with a sewing tape or string (mark and measure the string) with two fingers between the sewing tape or string and your dog's skin. I bought this collar for my boston terrier pup and he is always rubbin in the grass and playin rough. I have cleaned his collar with my Australian saddle/boot wax and it keeps the collar nice and easy to keep clean. I love the quality of this collar!

Not sure what you are meaning by heavy but, they are really thick and are even better looking when on the dog. It seems to be very durable. I was very pleased with this product and would recommend for any dog breed.

Yes it is heavy enough for a German shephard. The collar was purchased for use with a 85 pound Anatolian shephard and I was impressed with it's strength and craftsmanship.

I would think so. We purchased them for 2 of our Rotweiller/Pointer Mix dogs that weight 75 lbs. and are now going to buy one for our Lab/Great Dane mix who weights 97 lbs.

Im not sure about the size- the guy in customer service was really helpful and told me I could exchange it if it didn't fit. The Collar is GREAT looking and we love them. Bought it for both of our dogs.
