Our biggest issue here at dogIDs is nothing ever seems to be good enough for us...Until we started making our Signature Leather Collars that is! These collars are constructed with two layers of English bridle leather stitched together with nylon heavy duty thread and corrosion proof nickel plated solid brass hardware. A center ring provides a pivot point to relieve pressure if the collar gets caught on something, allowing the collar to slip off your dog's neck easier. Hence the name "safety" collar. The center ring also acts as a convenient spot to attach a leash snap. The two layers of leather both have the finished side of the leather facing out...Smooth finished surface on the outside and inside for comfort and extra resistance to the elements. Definitely a cut above in the looks and durability categories...Only the best for man's best friend!

Danielle K: I was looking for a leather collar, and have been for awhile. I have not found anything that I liked for under $100. I love that this is 2 ply, and that the tag is ON the collar. This makes me feel safer about it not coming off if anything were to happen.Feb 1, 2012
Jane G: I chose this collar because the tag is right on the collar rather than hanging from it. In the past my dog has torn multiple tags from his collar. I hope that won't be the case with this one. I hope, too, that the D-ring is welded. My dog pulls so hard that he has opened two rings on other collars and gotten away.Jan 28, 2012
Julie B: VERY good quality and nice lookingJan 27, 2012
GARY P: ITEMS LOOK TO BE OF HIGH QUALITY, PERSONALIZED TAGS SOLD MEJan 12, 2012
Vincent J: Great price! Other sites wanted around $70 for a similar product, and none of the other companies offered the safety ring or the double ply.Oct 24, 2011
Chuck BStaff:Our sizing is based on the actual neck size. So I would suggest measuring your dog's neck with a sewing tape or string, with 2 fingers underneath for comfort. The result will be the dog's neck size and then you would order a corresponding collar, such as size 20, 22, 24 etc. If the measurement is an odd number size, we recommend going to the smaller size. Rosman - asked:Can this collar be made with Solid brass hardware? I know there's a "Mendota Leather Center Ring Collar with Personalized Name Plate", but I want the double ply leather.
Chuck BStaff:The collars are pre made to our specifications, and the signature only comes with Nickel plated (silver color) hardware. Chuck B. StaffMar 5, 2012
Clint HStaff:We use a true measurement fitting system with our collars. This means that you measure around your dog's neck where you want the collar to sit with a sewing tape or string (mark and measure the string) with two fingers between the sewing tape or string and your dog's skin. The measurement you get is the size collar you will need to order. Click the following link for printable fitting instructions: http://www.dogids.com/leathersizing.htmlJul 28, 2011
Briana D asked:How well does this collar hold up in salt and/or fresh water? I have a Labrador/German Shepard Mix and its virtually impossible to keep him dry.Apr 18, 2012
Julie B:I bought this collar for my boston terrier pup and he is always rubbin in the grass and playin rough. I have cleaned his collar with my Australian saddle/boot wax and it keeps the collar nice and easy to keep clean. I love the quality of this collar! Apr 18, 2012
Keri P:Not sure what you are meaning by heavy but, they are really thick and are even better looking when on the dog. It seems to be very durable. I was very pleased with this product and would recommend for any dog breed.Nov 17, 2011
James P:Yes it is heavy enough for a German shephard. The collar was purchased for use with a 85 pound Anatolian shephard and I was impressed with it's strength and craftsmanship.Nov 1, 2011
Stanley C:I would think so. We purchased them for 2 of our Rotweiller/Pointer Mix dogs that weight 75 lbs. and are now going to buy one for our Lab/Great Dane mix who weights 97 lbs.Dec 1, 2011
A shopper asked:I wanted to surprise by boyfriend who is adopting an adult lab. Apparently he is 80 lbs. Any guestimate on the length this color should be? Would 20 inches be too long?Feb 21, 2012
Rhanya E:Im not sure about the size- the guy in customer service was really helpful and told me I could exchange it if it didn't fit. The Collar is GREAT looking and we love them. Bought it for both of our dogs.Feb 27, 2012
Mark K asked:can this collar be made shorter for our mini poodle whose neck size is 10" (as measured from buckle to the hole we use when buckling the collar)?Nov 28, 2011
Sorry but at this time, we do not carry this collar style in a small enough size for you. I would recommend you check out our two ply Bison leather collars instead...
