ANSWER: It's a small tag but your dog sounds tiny! My dog is 14 pounds and this is perfect for her, but for your dog I'd recommend getting one of those collars where you can write the necessary info right on the collar. Check out cat collars. I got my miniature schnauzer when she was 4 months old and weighed only five pounds. If your dog is younger and smaller, I'd definitely go with a cat collar. ANSWER: Hmmm. Yes, I think it may be too big and heavy for a 3 pound dog. Our dog is a mini dashund and now that she is 9 lbs in weight and bigger in size, the tag works fine. It is a nice, heavy-duty, well made tag. by Brent G 4/19/2011
