We knew that we wanted to start 2017 with a Paw it Forward partner that would bring hope and light to homeless pets nationwide. We wanted an organization with a tried and true record of improving the lives of dogs, as well as promoting responsible pet ownership.
dogIDs is proud to announce that our 2017 Quarter 1 Paw it Forward partner is Best Friends Animal Society. This will be our third Paw it Forward featuring for Best Friends Animal Society, and this year they have even more to be proud of.
Pawing it Forward to Best Friends Animal Society
Best Friends Animal Society’s mission is to “bring about a time where are No More Homeless Pets”.
They do this by helping to end the killing in America’s animal shelters through their community programs and partnerships. They also use their animal sanctuary in Utah, which is the largest in the nation and cares for almost 1,600 homeless animals.
Best Friends Animal Society (BFAS) also provides support in the form of funding, resources, advocacy and marketing assistance to their main partners in Los Angeles, Utah, New York and Atlanta as well as hundreds of rescues and shelters throughout the United States.
This past year, BFAS had 3 main areas of increased focus:
- Pit Bull Terriers
- Puppy Mills
How Best Friends Animal Society helped in 2016:
August 2016: Best Friends Animal Society committed $100,000 to Louisiana flood relief for their rescue partners located there as well as other homeless pets affected by the disaster
October 2016: Atlanta Pet Rescue and Adoption merged with BFAS to become Best Friends – Atlanta, creating a new resource in the Atlanta area for Best Friend’s work.
December 2016: Best Friends – New York hosted Best Friends Super Adoption, a 2 ½ day adoption event with 28 shelters participating. 4,000 people attended and over 320 pets were adopted.
It goes without saying that 2016 was a banner year for Best Friends Animal Society and we are thrilled to be partnering with them again for our Paw it Forward donation program and seeing how our customer’s donations can help them do even more in 2017.
