5 Winter Dog Treats Sure to Please this Holiday Season

Our dog treat posts have been so popular that we just had to do another one, so we’re bringing you our top 5 dog treat recipes we found online for the winter season!

As usual, we’re looking for treats that will keep your pooch happy and healthy, and this time we’re also highlighting treats with a little bit of extra winter flair. So, here are 5 winter dog treats that are sure to please.

Doggy-Noggy

Directions:

For Doggy-Noggy, put the ingredients into a blender or food processor and blend until the mixture is smooth. This tasty treat will help keep your pet’s coat shiny. 

Blueberry Dog Biscuits

Directions:

  1. Preheat oven to 350°. Line a baking sheet with a nonstick baking mat or parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, mix together all ingredients with 1 cup water to form a dough. Roll out mixture to ¼ inch thick between two sheets of plastic wrap or parchment paper. Remove the plastic wrap and cut out biscuits with a cookie cutter. 
  3. Space biscuits 1 inch apart on prepared baking sheet. Bake for 30 minutes, until nicely browned and firm.
  4. Transfer biscuits to a wire rack. 

Winter is the season of dandruff and dry skin, and these treats are full of nutrients that will help keep your dog’s skin and coat soft and healthy.

Peanut Butter-Pumpkin Treats

Directions:

  1. Preheat oven to 350.
  2. Whisk ingredients together in a bowl.
  3. Roll the dough out to about ½ inch thick and cut into ½ inch pieces.
  4. Bake in oven until crisp (about 45 minutes).

Use cookie cutters to make them into your favorite winter shapes, and share them with your other pooch-loving pals!

No-Bake Peanut Butter Dog Treats

Directions:

  1. In the bowl of an electric mixer, beat pumpkin puree, peanut butter and milk on medium-high until well combined, about 1-2 minutes. Add 2 1/2 cups old fashioned oats at low speed, beating just until incorporated.
  2. Using a small cookie scoop, roll the mixture into 1 1/4-to-1 1/2-inch balls, forming about 20. Roll balls in remaining 1/2 cup old fashioned oats, pressing to coat.
  3. Cover and place in the refrigerator until firm, about 1 hour.*

These no-bake treats are so easy your whole family will want to help make them. 

Cinnamon Sweet Potato Dog Treats

Directions:

  1. Cook sweet potato however you desire.
  2. Preheat oven to 350ºF .
  3. Mash sweet potato (we kept the skin on, but that’s totally optional!) with coconut oil. Add cinnamon.
  4. Gradually mash in coconut flour, starting with a half cup.  Add in an extra quarter-cup if necessary.
  5. The dough will resemble the consistency of Play-Doh. Roll it out between two pieces of parchment (or wax) paper, until it’s ¼ inch in thickness.
  6. Cut into shapes. 
  7. Bake for 30 minutes, turning midway through. 
  8. Let cool before offering to your pup to enjoy!
