I have ordered several of these Name Tag IDs over the years for my dogs. They are truly adorable. However, the jump ring that attaches to the dog's collar does not work very well. Consequently: I keep losing the Name Tag ID tag and need to order new ones. I know: JUST GET A BETTER JUMP RING! Maybe this time I will. I am getting tired of spending $20 on name tags.

Is the front of the tag coated with plastic? How does it hold up? Does it gather dirt inside of the silver ring?

BEST ANSWER: Yes, there is a hard plastic/resin coating on the front. My dog has been wearing his tag for a couple of weeks now and even though we take daily walks on a dirt path, there is no dirt or grime gathering along the silver edging or anywhere else on the tag.
Is it possible to have the tag made double sided so it is readable no matter which way it flips?

This dog tag (and some nice people) saved my dog, Harvey, when he got out of my yard. They saw "My name is Harvey" and our phone number and were able to get a hold of me on my cell phone.
It has "weathered" a bit in the last six months and probably will need to be replaced before it is a year old. But still worth it to me.
