Q: What is the "ScruffTag" design?

A: The ScruffTag is our signature nameplate built into the center of the collar strap so it sits right on the back of your dog's neck (the scruff) which makes your engraved contact info highly visible. Unlike traditional hanging tags, it doesn't dangle, jingle, or get caught on things. It stays visible on the back of the neck so someone who finds your dog can read the ID without reaching under the dog's chin. Because of this, they are more likely to take the time to try and contact you rather than avoid your dog altogether for fear of getting bit or drooled on.

Q: Is the collar truly waterproof and stink-proof?

A: Yes! The collar strap is made from Biothane®, a high-tech poly-coated webbing. It is completely impervious to water, mud, and oils, meaning it will not absorb odors or bacteria. If it gets dirty, it wipes clean instantly. It's not your typical waterproof material though. It's soft to the touch and ridiculously durable at the same time. The only smell we've found that takes time to fade is skunk spray. Skunks are in a league of their own when it comes to stink!

Q: How do I choose the right size?

A: We size our collars by neck size, not the total length of the collar. Measure your dog's neck where the collar normally sits. If your dog's neck measures 15 inches, choose the size range that covers 15 inches (e.g., the 14" - 18" size).

Q: Can I replace the nameplate if my information changes?

A: The nameplate is permanently built into the collar for maximum durability, visibility and silence, so it cannot be swapped out without the proper tools. However, if your contact information changes, please contact our customer support team for assistance with a replacement solution. You can either send the collar to us to swap in a new ScruffTag with your updated ID info or we can help you find another option that works best for you.

Q: Will the engraving rub off over time?

A: No. We use industrial laser engravers made for stainless steel that cut into/remove/vaporize the stainless steel. This process we use also darkens and hardens the remaining metal underneath. Hence the engraving is guaranteed for the life of your pet. If it ever does become illegible for some reason not due to abuse, we will replace it for free.

Q: Is this collar suitable for dogs with sensitive skin?

A: Yes. The soft, flexible material is gentle on fur and skin, and because it doesn't absorb bacteria or stay wet, it helps prevent the "hot spots" and irritation often caused by wet nylon collars.
