Melissa started making dog tags in 2010 after adopting a rescue dog from a high kill shelter in North Carolina. After looking online at what was out there, she set about creating a different type of dog tag where “form meets function.” A sturdy, but fun tag that is attractive with a touch of whimsy!
With a background in design and jewelry-making it was important that the tags she produced met her standards. Each tag is made by hand in her studio in the mountains just west of Washington DC.
Melissa is also passionate about giving back to the rescue community that started her on this journey and works to help animals find their forever homes. In her downtime, Melissa still enjoys making people jewelry, painting, hiking, and spending time with her furry kids: Georgie (the muse ) and Mosby (the feline supervisor).
