Marta S: Tired of stinky and noisy doggy collars!!! We have 2 very active dogs: a chocolate lab and a weimaraner. We frequent the muddy dog park, and the river for swimming - although they have a blast, the regular nylon/cotton collar stayed wet forever and stunk - I'm sure that wasn't comfortable for them. Also, the dangling name tags would wake our baby up if the dogs walked around or shook their heads at night or during nap time. This engraved collar is sure to solve that problem for us!Apr 9, 2012

Bryce N: Brother's dog had one of these. The only complaint they had was that they still had 2 other tags (from the vet) that the dog had to wear, so they still had to listen to a 'jingle' from them clanging together.
The product, and it's tag, all live up to the promises. Durable. No smell. Easy to read. Stays in place, too.Dec 7, 2011

Lori P: I like the "buitl in" identification information. She is always losing her tags. I wanted a leather collar but my dog swims a lot and her collar gets "smelly" this said it was waterproof and odor free. I wish they came in more colors though because I like more "girly" colors for my female golden retriever. But the black will have to do.Dec 30, 2010

Leticia -: Gotta have my buddies with elegance and comfort; just like people we gotta have cool and comfort when selecting shoes, its how I see collars on dogs. I really like the fact that collar is odor free, water resistant, durable and soft. Gotta have it. And its American made!Oct 30, 2010
Leticia -: I wanted a collar that will be comfortable for my buddy and have it personalized at the same time. Also, best part its USA product, right?Oct 30, 2010
A shopper asked:Hi. Does the name tag part of this collar cut into your dog's neck? I have a black lab and his neck is so thick I wasn't sure whether or not it would be uncomfortable for him. I appreciate your help.Mar 15, 2011
Ann C:I am very happy with purchasing this collar. Our dog is about 70lbs but tall and skinny, unlike a Lab. I was afraid that this collar was going to be too big and not sit correctly. However, the collar is sized perfectly and the tag part sits in the middle of his neck. It does not cut in at all and does not bother our dog. Would highly recommend. Looks great and is quiet : )Mar 15, 2011
Sue Y:I have three medium/large dogs weighing around 60 lbs, and the tags do not cut into the neck of my dogs. I believe that the leather loop attaching the tags prevents this, and ensures that there is comfort in the fit of the collar. One of my dogs has a very thick neck but I ensure that I maintain the two finger gap between the collar and his neck.Mar 15, 2011
Andrew S:I bought the collar for my pitbull who has a huge neck and the collar fits him great. No cutting in. I get compliments on it all the time and it makes him look very handsome :)Mar 21, 2011
Clayton P:Hey, the name tag part has never given my male black lab a problem. I think his neck size is around 21 or 22 inches. If you buy the right sized collar it should be fine.Mar 15, 2011
Kim P:My dog has a very muscular neck and the tags from the vet always curled into his chest after a few days, this collar and the metal have not caused any injuries at alMar 16, 2011
Mark I:No, the name plate on this collar does no cut into my Boxer's neck. The name plate is flush with the collar and has created no issues.Mar 19, 2011
A shopper asked:is it too durable? I'm worried if my dog gets out if she gets caught on something that she wont be able to break out of the collar. I usually go with nylon but shes a swimmer and nylon gets so nasty after while.May 3, 2011
D A:It is pretty strong stuff. I imagine it would be difficult to break if she got caught. Typically if you fit it right (high on the neck with room to put 2 fingers under it) it won't catch on anything. I find most times I have seen dogs catch their collars on something, it is because the collar is too loose. But if this is your worry, I would say it is too strong for your needs.
I will add that it is a great material for a swimmer. It sheds water perfectly withuot changing color, look or feel.May 6, 2011
Russell A:Im not sure about whether it will break apart or not.... However, my dog swims, wears her collar 24 hours a day, and it has yet to show ANY signs of wear. Highly recommend this collar.May 4, 2011
SUSAN S:The strap is totally waterproof and I have not noticed an odor. Our dog is water-adverse; but, a couple years ago, we purchased the leather collar with the same tag for our son's dog , who you can't keep out of the water. The tag is still in good condition.Apr 3, 2012
Greta S asked:I have a white dog, and the usual collars have a ring that turns her hair black. Also, the "s" links for the tags are made of some kind of metal that turns her neck black. Is there a collar that has stainless steel everywhere?Oct 28, 2011
A shopper asked:My active lab has a clip buckle collar right now. He also wears an electric collar that is only a buckle and it is always coming undone. Do you find that this collar stays closed, is it pliable enough to do that?Feb 15, 2013
Allison P:I purchased these collars for my working border collies. I had in the past purchased and really liked the English Bridle leather ones. This collar looks as nice as the leather one, and has a nice feel to it. I have the black ones, so not sure if the colored ones feel differently. But I really like this collar for many reasons. We own a ranch and feedlot where the dogs are constantly ducking through and under fences, where in the past have yanked off collars and tags that have got hung up in the fences. We have had NO problems with this collar coming unbuckled or snagging on anything. Another thing, our dogs are in and out of water tanks to cool off, and their collars still unbuckle and stay pliable. So far these are the very best collar I've ever used. I love that the tag is built into the collar, nothing to snag. We also use electric collars while they are wearing this collar, we take the electric collar on and off as needed, but this collar has never had the buckle come undone.Feb 16, 2013
F I:My Weimaraner is also what I describe as extreme active. She wears an Invisible Fence Electric Collar and this soft grip collar. I don't have the problem of the electric collar coming undone though. I have the electric collar on toward the bottom of her neck and this collar toward the top. I've had this collar on her for about a year and it is tough and doesn't show any signs of wear. I got this collar because the id charms kept falling off or wearing off the traditional collar no matter what I did. This collar stays closed and I have never had any issues with that. The strap was much bigger than I needed and I cut it to a length that worked for me so I don't have a whole bunch flapping around.Feb 16, 2013
W A:We also have a very, very active lab that we bought this collar for. We love it and have never had a problem with it coming undone. I think you too, will be pleased with the sturdiness and great quality of this product!Feb 16, 2013
PRATYUSH P:Yes, the collar is hard enough to always stay closed. And yet, it is pliable. Certainly made out of quality material. Highly recommend it.Feb 16, 2013
Bryan A:I'm on my second, about to get a third. Neither have ever cone undone. I have a rough & tuff 4 yr old whyme, and believe me, she has put them through the test.Feb 16, 2013
A shopper asked:Would anyknow how much the 1" collar would be rated? I have a 58lbs dog and had a 3/4" (I believe) leather that recently ripped apart and was hoping this should be strong enough to withstand such force.Jul 5, 2011
T A:We have had our Soft grip Tag Collar and leash combo for about 9 months and it still looks new! Our dog is about 55 pounds and fairly gentle, but there are moments on our walks that she can give a hard tug and we've never had any issues. The engraved plate still shines and looks new as well.Jul 6, 2011
C P:1" collar will hold a very large dog. My two are 56 and 49lbs, and to be honest the 1" looks just a big large on them. My friend saw ours and got a 3/4" for her 55lb german shepherd puppy, who pulls, and it works perfectly.
To be fair, though, I use the Mendota Braided Dog Walker Martingale Leashes that I got here to walk our girls.
Rebekah L:I have a 90+ lb dog who wears the 1" collar every day and we have never had any problems with ripping. Our dog is not a puller by any means but on the few occasions that he has tried to get away to another dog or another human the collar has held strong.Jul 6, 2011
John L:Ah okay, awesome. My dog isn't usually a puller either, but she has a high prey drive...so all those loose squirrels/cats can cause some arm-breaking tugs at times! :O Thanks a lot for the replies!Jul 7, 2011

A shopper asked:I've read a lot of people said the collars were heavy. My dog eats tags but is only 17 pounds (shih tzu-poodle mix). Would this be too heavy or bulky for her?Mar 13, 2013
JANINE D:I have both a 75lb dog and a 20lb dog and neither one of them is bugged by the weight of the collar- they have been wearing them for 2 years now. Mar 14, 2013
A. H asked:I am looking to get the pink ScruffTag for my dog, but I am unsure about the true color of the collar. It looks a bit like a watermelon or salmon pink, but I was hoping for a true hot pink. Is the color on the computer pretty true to the real color or is it more hot pink?Jun 12, 2012
tara c:We ordered the brown so it would look more like a leather collar. So I can't say for sure but I don't think the bright colors are reflective either. I will say we like this collar as it doesn't smell when wet and is light weight and comfy for our dog. Sorry couldn't be more helpDec 4, 2011
Clint HStaff:
We are working on new variations with side release buckles to be released early 2012 but for now take a look at our nylon ScruffTag Collars with side release buckle. Hot sellers!
We just got a mini schnauzer puppy, And we really want to get this collar! Would anyone happen to know which size would be best for a mini schnauzer puppy who is going to grow?Jul 31, 2012
Rosalind R:It's a nice collar, but I am not sure how it works with a small dog because the tag part is quite wide and that means that for that width, there's no flexibility. So, imagine a good chunk of the collar being stiff (metal). I stopped using it because of this.Aug 1, 2012
Robin S:When determining the appropriate collar size for our two Boykin Spaniels, we utilized the "collar sizing instructions". The information was very helpful. The collars fit perfectly, function well and look great. Jul 27, 2012
Julianna C:I have a 65 lb large mixed breed, and I bought the 20 inch one. It fits perfectly! You might want to measure to double check, but I would see no problem in this one fitting a Golden Retriever, as well. Good luck!Jul 11, 2012
A shopper asked:Does anyone use the Soft Grip Scruff Tag on a Cavalier King Charles? Although we use a harness for leash attachment, the name tag concerns me as their throats are so vulnerable.Apr 20, 2012
Alice C:We use the soft grip collar solely for the purpose of having the dog identified. We use a martingale collar on her only when we go walking but her id collar stays on at all times so the plate will not hurt her throat.May 5, 2012
Leann S asked:My dog is a small breed, and his neck is only 8 inches around, but he may still grow some. I want to get the odor and water resistant collar. Do you have any to fit him?Apr 8, 2012
Chuck BStaff:At the current time our soft grip collars would only go down to a size 14 inch. Check back in a couple of months, as we may look at a 5/8 inch style that may work. Chuck B. StaffApr 9, 2012
Chuck BStaff:We size our collar to the actual neck size, not the lenght of the collar. We use a TRUE collar sizing system! All of our collars, unless otherwise noted on the collar's page, are measured to the center hole for a TRUE neck size. What does that mean to you? Well, simply put, it means that the measurement of your dog?s neck is the size of the collar it needs. No guesswork needed to buy a collar that fits your dog correctly and comfortably. Here are a few different methods for measuring your dog's neck: Measure your dog's neck with a sewing tape while keeping two fingers between his skin and the tape. OR... Wrap a string around your dogs neck with two fingers between his skin and the string. Mark the string and then measure the length of it. OR... Remove your dog's current collar and stretch it out flat. Then measure from the center of the buckle to the current sizing hole being used. Chuck B. StaffApr 9, 2012
A shopper asked:Are you using the rounded name plate on these collars now? I bought two of these great collars last year but find that the flat plates are annoying to the dog when he's/she's lying down. ThanksApr 3, 2012
A shopper asked:I'm having a very tough time deciding on what color to get for my Black Lab. It's just really tough to judge off of the internet photos and trust what they show. So, I have a couple of questions. Does the green collar look more like a "mint" green or a neon green? Also, if I'm not pleased with the color is there any way to send it back for a different color? Because the colors shown on the internet look like they could be deceiving. Thanks!
N M:I ordered the largest size for my 2 labs (70 & 60 lbs). It was the 1in x 24 or something (whatever the largest one is). It was too long for both of them, and my male has a pretty meaty neck. I would definitely measure your dog's neck and whatever you get maybe add an inch or two, but not much more than that. It ended up being fine b/c we were able to cut the excess off and punched a few extra holes to make them fit. I LOVE these collars. Super easy to clean, they're really bright colors and the engraving is really nice!Nov 29, 2011
Kelly H asked:Which is the most visible/boldest font to choose? Also, is the nameplate easier to read on the 1" collar vs. the 3/4"? Thanks, KellySep 30, 2011
Clint HStaff:We recommend Arial Round if you are looking for the easiest/most bold font to use. The engraving will be slightly smaller on the 3/4" size if you use all 5 lines. If you use 4 lines, the font will be about the same size as using 5 lines on the 1" collar. Either way, the font will not be hard to read so don't worry about that. Also, our engraving is guaranteed for the life of your pet so if you aren't happy with the engraving, let us know and we will make it right.Oct 15, 2011
Chuck BStaff:Our Soft Grip ScruffTag? Collars are not only super tough but also water proof and odor proof so if you have one of those dogs that just loves to be in the water all the time or loves to roll in the stinkiest stuff in the neighborhood, our Soft Grip ScruffTag? Collars are a great solution. Chuck B. StaffSep 22, 2011
Chuck BStaff:Each collar is made with super durable Soft Grip poly coated nylon webbing and stainless steel hardware. Soft Grip strap was originally developed for producing bridles, halters and reins for horses. Chuck B. StaffSep 9, 2011
A shopper asked:I have a Shih Tzu who has gone thru 4 tags in 6 months (she likes to chew them). So I'm thinking this collar with the nameplate in the collar may work for her. My only concern is how heavy it is. Sh has a small neck (she wears a size 10 collar). And even though she weighs 9.5lbs, she is a small thing! Can anyone help me? Thank you!!Jun 19, 2011
Chuck BStaff:The soft grip collar may be a bit more collar than you want for that size dog. I might suggest the MGWEBB collars with the engraved aluminum buckles. This collar comes in a 5/8 width and the xsmall would fit 6-10 inch neck. Chuck B. StaffJun 23, 2011
Nathanael J asked:I was wondering what the difference between this collar and the fluorescent personalized dog collar? They appear to be the same material - I'm getting a dog in a week and want to find the best for it.
Chuck BStaff:The Fluorescent has a Biothane coating over webbing and is a bit stiffer material. The Softgrip material is the base for horse harness and would provide a softer more flexible feel more like a softer leather. Chuck B. StaffJun 9, 2011
Chuck BStaff:This style of collar is designed so the nameplate will rest at the top of the neck, or the scruff. Due to the cost of the collar and uncertainty of the adult neck size, it may be better to wait until the dog is closer to maturity then get a collar that we know will fit properly. I might suggest a different style of collar for a growing puppy. Many of the nylon webbing collars come with an adjustable slider that can adjust as your dog grows. Chuck B-StaffApr 15, 2011
Linda K asked:Is this collar "soft" to the touch - rubber like material? My dog is a Chinese Crested and is hairless - collars tend to irritate his skin/Mar 19, 2012
