In case I didn't want to use four lines, I just wanted my dogs name "Loki" on it.. can you make the name LOKI the size font that would take up the four lines?

Dustin H:
All single line text is sized up to fit on the entire tag, so there is no need for you to do anything on your end.

I have a 11 week old Huskimo. He is going to get to be around 30-40 pounds. Are the collars adjustable, or do i get it to fit him now?
Jan 3, 2013
Chuck BStaff:
the collars have a 4 inch range, so if you order a size 14 inch collar it would fit a 12-16 inch neck size, with 14 on the center of the 5 holes in the strap. We usually recommend a puppy collar ID-662 or ID-801 to start and once he gets closer to maturity, purchase the leather collar. Chuck B. Staff

Kerry T:
They are certainly somewhat adjustable - but not infinitely so. It's a buckle, kind of like a belt. So, I would say for this particular collar (which you want him to have for his whole life), wait til he's closer to his full-grown size to buy it and use a nylon adjustable one until then. :)

Stephen W:
While the leather collar is adjustable, you may want to wait until your pup has a full year on them. Start out your pup with a softer collar to start.

We bought an inexpensive collar until she was almost full grown. Worked out well!

I have a 3 year old male lab, almost white, very active. what is the difference, or which is better, the English Bridle Leather Collar or the other leather collar without the o ring in the collar?
Nov 28, 2011
S H:
the first leather collar i bought was beautiful and sturdy, a bit long (which was my fault) but it was perfect, then we moved, so now i need a new collar, and also one for the new dog.
my dog is a 70 lb Greyhound/ Rhodesian mix, she's a tough dog
bottom line, both are good. the collar is really just looks though, for control, we use a gentle leade
wish i could've been more help, both are beautiful collars, but the bridle was on sale for $24.
good luck

I got the standard collar without the leash clip ring in the new the postion and it works great for my black lab. She has her name on the collar, an ID chip and a tag hanging from her collar. Never want to lose that girl!
I will buy the collar with the O ring next, just to try it out- although this one has been wonderful. It might make less name tag noise.
Great product and enjoy your yellow lab.

Joseph M:
My dogs have had their collars wet several times, to include going in and out of a small wading pool and they have held up just fine. I don't know how they would be if they were continuously immersed in water. None the less, I strongly recommend these collars. They are extremely well made and durable. As well, I have never had a name plate come lose or come off.

Hey! My 2 dogs have had their collars for a year now. They are holding up incredibly well. It is so nice to have something that just looks better with age. They do go swimming occasionally and I do not see any problems.

Can't really help you, because my dog never goes swimming. So I'm not sure if it'll.hold up getting wet everyday. Sorry.

The L asked:
I want to order a collar, but I have never measured my dogs neck before. I know this probably sounds dumb, but I am hesitant to order because I am scared I will choose a wrong size. How and how much bigger should I get a dog collar?
Dec 20, 2012
Chuck BStaff:
That style of collar has 5 holes in the strap. The center hole is the size of the collar, so the collar can go up or down 2 inches in size. So for example a size 16 collar would go down to a 14 inch or up to an 18 inch neck size. See sizing guide below.
Leather, DuraSoft and DuraFlect Collar Sizing Instructions
To determine the correct size leather, DuraSoft or DuraFlect collar for your dog, use one of the
following procedures:
Measure your dog's neck with a sewing tape while keeping two fingers between his skin and the
tape.
OR...
Wrap a string around your dogs neck with two fingers between his skin and the string. Then
measure the length of the string.
OR...
Remove your dog's current collar and stretch it out flat. Then measure from the center of the
buckle to the current sizing hole being used.
This measurement is your dog's neck size and the collar length to order.
Example: If you measured your dog's neck to be 16" and you want a 1" wide collar, you would
order a 1"x16" collar. Chuck B. Staff

I ordered the medium thick leather with the name plate for a jack russell terrier. It gives her plenty of slack to make it loose or tighter. You should be able to slip your hand underneath the collar when they wear it. Hope that helps!

Simply round it up to the nearest size. They are adjustable.

Brianna J asked:
I have two labs-what size would you recommend getting? One is 70 pounds and one is a puppy, 15 pounds.
Apr 22, 2013
Chuck BStaff:
I would recommend measuring the mature lab's neck with a string or sewing tape with two fingers underneath for comfort. If odd sizing then go down for mature dogs, so a 17 inch neck size order 16 inch collar. For the puppy, we usually recommend a puppy collar to start and then invest in a more expensive collar later on. If you want a collar for the puppy to match the the other dog, then measure his neck as well. The strap has 5 holes with the collar size on the center hole. So a 14 inch collar would fit a range of 12 -16 inches. You can also call customer service for more assistance. 800-720-8247 . Chuck B. Staff

There is a sizing chart provided on the website, if you click the link it will provide you with instructions on how to measure your dog's neck and purchase accordingly. I used it for my Beagle and ordered the recommended size, it fits him right in the center hole on the collar.

A shopper asked:
Our dogs swim everyday how well do collars hold up in water?
Mar 14, 2013
Kelsey P:
Midnight has had one of these collars for about eight months. He is a purebred black lab. He loves playing in water as well. Over those eight months the collar hasn't faded and the leather hasn't started to crack. It's a good quality, and a good looking collar.

For dogs that swim every day, I would recommend our Soft Grip collar. Just type in Soft Grip in the search box. Chuck B. Staff

Hello!
I have an eleven week old Cocker Spaniel. What would be a good size collar for him? I love the english bridle leather collar!
Jan 26, 2012
Melissa M:
Hi Channel.
You want to measure your dog's neck and get the corresponding size. The website has good instructions. Bear in mind, your pup has a lot of growing left to do but if you get it too big it might be hard to get it so it won't slip over his head. I have 2 for my 2 dogs and I just love them. They do stretch a little over time. Hope that helps :)

CAN A 14 IN COLLAR BE MADE BIGGER OR SMALLER AND BY HOW MUCH?
Jan 25, 2012
Jason R:
Not sure what you mean by "only 5 days later good service". If you're referring to the time between when you posted the question to when I responded. I'm sorry. But I do not work for dogIDs. I'm a customer and happened to see your post so I thought I would respond to be helpful as I have this same collar for my dog.
If you are talking about something else then I'm confused as to what you mean.

Jason R:
It could be made smaller by punching additional holes but it cannot be extended.

Have you tried calling them? In the past I have call them directly with questions and gotten excellent service. Just a thought. Good luck!

A shopper asked:
I have a Pitbull with a 19" neck, what size collar should I get?
Jun 16, 2013
Chuck BStaff:
If the dog is mature, we would recommend size 18. The collars have 5 holes in the strap with the center hole, being the size of the collar. So an 18 would be 18 inches on center hole with 2 holes for 19 and 20 inches. Chuck B. Staff

A shopper asked:
Is there a way to get the English Bridle Leather collar but with a chrome nameplate instead of the brass? Or is the chrome only an option with the more expensive collars?
May 12, 2013
Chuck BStaff:
The hardware on this style collar is brass so that is why the matching plate is brass. Our bison collars and signature line of collars have stainless steel options. Chuck B. Staff

A shopper asked:
I have a 1 year old female bluetick coonhound that weighs 60lbs. Would the 1x16 be good for her or should I go bigger?
Jul 5, 2012
Karen M:
I think the 1 x16 should be fine. Assuming you have measured her neck and that gives you enough length plus a little extra. But I think they allow for the extra length as well. I bought this size for my Mother's springer and it fit him perfectly. We used the middle buckle hole, and he has plenty of lenght left if se needed more. I think the width of one ince is perfect for that isze of dog. I wouldn't want it any wider. I had them custom print just hte name of the gold plate, and the lettering was just perfect. I have a brand new Germans Shepherd puppy and I'lll be ordering this collar again, only in her size. But it's a great collor and looks very pretty on the dogs. Good luck.
