A Staff Favorite here at dogIDs!! Soft Comfy yet super strong collars for small AND big dogs! These super soft high quality collars are made in the USA from genuine bison and elk hides harvested in the USA. Though these are very soft to the touch, the fiber structure of bison and elk leather are actually stronger than cow hide! Super soft AND super tough!
The outside bison leather and elk leather inside lining are stitched together with nylon thread for added strength. The soft outside bison leather provides great looks while the inside elk leather layer gives your dog that extra soft comfort. The craftsmanship behind these custom leather dog collars is truly amazing! Not only will you be impressed with the quality, but you’ll be even more impressed with how soft to the touch these collars feel once you hold them in your hand.
Why our staff loves these collars? One of our employees described these unique collars as “buttery soft”, but unlike butter these collars won’t add 10 lbs to your dog.
Here is a review from one of our loyal customers "My husband and I are so impressed with the bison/elk collar...Wow! what a wonderfully crafted collar and the attached personalized dog tag is beautiful. We really like the fact that it is durable, good looking, easy to put on and the tag is very easy to read. Great work! Thank you, Catherine "
Let’s not forget to mention how stylish these dog collars are! The combination of bison and elk hide along with the personalized brass nameplate really give these collars a unique look! The personalized brass or stainless steel nameplate offers 3 customizable lines with a max of 15 characters per line. No noisy hanging id tag to worry about! With our high tech laser engraver we’ll be able to completely personalize your collar and give your dog an advantage in any beauty contest he/she walks into.

Martha O:I measured my dog neck somewhat loosely and ordered that size. She measured 17 inches so I ordered that size and it fit perfectly in the middle hole of the collar. By the way this is an incredibly soft and beautiful collar. I highly recommed it.Dec 5, 2011
Janell K:Sorry for the delay in my response. No, you just measure the neck, and that is the size you will need. If you add inches, the collar will not fit right.Dec 6, 2011
Stephanie F:yes, that is how you are supposed to do it. The collars are usually sized already and it is better to have it be a bit larger than too small.Dec 4, 2011
Autumn C:it is very soft i bought one and i have had it for a few months now no problems at all he loves that color dont irratate his neck at all and i like the design that i got it looks cool :)Aug 25, 2011

Chuck BStaff:The Lining Leather (Elk) may bleed, as it?s a fully drum dyed leather with no coatings. The Darker Elk Linings (Black, Mahogany, Chocolate) are more likely to bleed than say the Gold.
However, the chance of bleeding is Far less than any almost any unlined leather collar and certainly less than unlined Latigo or Oil tanned leathers. Chuck B. StaffFeb 8, 2013
Martha O:I have a white boxer--the color has never bled even though she has exercised through heavy rain and wet snow. She has also gotten it wet in both ocean and river water. The best color I have ever had on any dog!Apr 9, 2013
A shopper asked:I ordered the 3/4 x 13" for my beagle. I love the collar but the name plate is a little stiff - it doesn't curve with the collar. Is there a good way to curve it? or does it do that naturally with use?Jan 25, 2012
Stephanie F:I also was a little disappointed with the stiffness of the name plate. You can gently bend it so it is a bit more curved. It is pretty flexible so if you don't like the way you bent it, it will go back. The collar usually ends up having the name plate on the side as opposed to the back of the neck. That seems to be the way it hangs. They are beautiful collars though and the leather softens up over time from the oil in the dogs coat.Jan 27, 2012
Gary S:We have a small wading pool in the dogs' area and the collars have gotten wet. The collars have two layers of high quality leather, with the tag riveted on. The collars have not been visibly damaged by the water and appear to be immune from damage from it. Not having to dangle a pet ID because the tag is part of the collar, and becasue the collar can contain more information than any other type we've tried, are great features.Jun 23, 2011
Chuck BStaff:We would have you measure your dog's neck using the instructions on our help site. Go to Help, then Product Installation and Sizing Instructions. You may want to start with an adjustable or a pupply collar until your dog is closer to maturity to get the maximum value for your collar investment. You can call customer service as well if you need further assistance. 800-720-8247 Chuck B. StaffJun 9, 2011
Sarah N:I am sorry I can't help you with size, I got a 12' long but my dog is 8lbs and we had to take some off the end. But we love this collar and am happy with all the info we were able to get on it.Jun 3, 2011
Chuck BStaff:The collar is available in 3 widths, 5/8 inch for small dogs, 3/4 inch width for medium dogs and 1 inch widths for larger dogs. The sizing will be displayed in a drop down menu. Collar Sizes Available:
5/8" x 9-11" neck 5/8" x 11-13" neck 3/4" x 14-16" neck 3/4" x 17-19" neck 1" x 19-22" neck 1" x 23-26" neck Chuck B. StaffMay 24, 2011
Chuck BStaff:Simply measure your dog?s neck at the base for the proper collar size. There should always be enough room between the pet?s neck and the collar to slip one finger between them comfortably.
Dog Neck Measurement
Here are a few different methods for measuring your dog's neck: Measure your dog's neck with a sewing tape while keeping two fingers between his skin and the tape. OR... Wrap a string around your dogs neck with two fingers between his skin and the string. Mark the string and then measure the length of it. OR... Remove your dog's current collar and stretch it out flat. Then measure from the center of the buckle to the current sizing hole being used. If you scroll down on the item page, you will see the description tab. Keep scrolling to see the instructions listed. Chuck B. StaffApr 12, 2012
Rossy A asked:Hi my chihuahua is 9" neck, plus an extra finger for space, let's say is 10" then. What it would be the perfect collar size for her: 5/8 x 9 or the 5/8x11? I am confused...to be honest i was thinking the 5/8 x 9 because i know that the collar brings a couple of holes for extra space, but as i dont have the product in my hand is hard to tell, some people say is better bigger than smaller, so I am nervous to purchase this. I would appreciate your help. Thanks!Mar 24, 2012
Chuck BStaff:The size 9 inch collar has 5 holes, the last hole would fit on center about 8 3/4 inch, next hole about 9 1/2 and the last hole 10 1/4 inch neck size. If the dog is mature, I would recommend going with the smaller 9 inch collar as there would be less strap going through the buckle, and slightly less weight. Chuck B. StaffMar 27, 2012
A shopper asked:Do you sell any 1"x26" leather collars? My sons dog just saved my granddaughters life and I want a leather collar that can be personalized. I can not find any 1"x26" collars.Nov 27, 2011
Chuck BStaff:We recommend measuring your dog's neck with a string or sewing tape, with 2 fingers under the string for extra room. If the measurement is 17, than I would order the 17 inch collar. There are 5 holes in the strap and the center hole would be 17 inches, with almost 2 inches on each side. Chuck B. StaffNov 10, 2011
Chuck BStaff:The top is Natural, then Black/mahogany, then Peanut Gold, then Chocolate Gold. I recommend scrolling down on the page to see the description tab, then select the more images to see the collars in more detail. Chuck B. StaffOct 10, 2011
Chuck BStaff:The dog should have a neck of 8 inches or more for these collars. If the dog's deck is less than 8 inches, I would recommend the nylon web collar with engraved plastic buckle, which can fit a 6-10 inch neck. Item # MGWEBPB Chuck B. StaffOct 10, 2011
Clint HStaff:There is no color option to choose. We use a brass nameplate on the collars with brass hardware and stainless steel nameplate on collars with silver hardware as pictured in the main image. If you would like to specify a different nameplate color, just put that in the comments on your order.Oct 4, 2011
Chuck BStaff:The Stainless hardware (silver color) would be Natural Chocolate Black Mahogany Chocolate Hot Pink Purple Lime Green Purple Hot Pink. Chuck B. StaffSep 9, 2011
